Let’s take a second and try and look at the internet from the search engines’ point of view. Why do the search engines provide us with this invaluable service of allowing us to search the internet? The answer, not surprisingly, is money. The more users that a search engine has, the more potential they have to make money. But how, and what does this have to do with search engine optimization?

Why SEO?

In our last post, I provided a detailed explanation of ‘What is Search Engine Optimization (SEO).’ Now that you understand what SEO is, I think it is imperative that you understand why it is important. To do this, in this post I will discuss the five main benefits of SEO.

Quality of Traffic

One of the main purposes of any Internet marketing channel is to drive ‘quality traffic’ to your site that ultimately converts into customers. In our opinion, the traffic received from the major search engines is one of the most qualified avenues since the traffic is all pre-qualified.

What is SEM?

The best way to explain search engine marketing is with an example. Imagine that you sell cell phones and that a prospective customer is searching on a major search engine such as Google for the phrase “free cell phone”. That prospect will probably see a page like this:
