Activating Your Marketing Superpowers

Last year, research by Google Trends revealed one thing about Halloween costumes: millions of Americans are looking to be superheroes, even if it’s only for a day. In fact, “superhero” was the No. 3 costume, beating out pirate, witch, princess, and vampire. It’s not just kids who are looking for super status—the National Research Federation found “superhero” was in the top 10 even for adults. Among them, there are likely quite a few marketers.

At Rise, senior marketers often come to us because they are tasked with achieving colossal goals and results. In fact, some of the challenges and expectations today’s brands face make the idea of superpowers mighty appealing. With Halloween quickly approaching, we polled 100 marketing leaders to see just what marketing superpower they would like to have.

During our recent IMLS® event in Chicago, our audience of marketers were given 15 minutes to come up with their chosen marketing “superpower” and produce a 30-second video that explains why. Desired marketing superpowers included time travel and the ability to automatically and immediately capture customer attention. However, it may come as little surprise that our live marketing focus group trended towards predictive, mind-reading powers that would allow them to understand and anticipate customer needs. Here are the videos from the challenge:

What marketing superpower would you want and why? These are the video submissions from the audience of senior marketers at our recent IMLS® event.

What superpower would make your list? The answer might simultaneously help you reveal both your Halloween costume this year and the next area of innovation and investment for your marketing strategy. We can’t read minds, but we can enable 1:1 marketing techniques to drive personalization, relevancy, and data-driven performance.
