Four Ways Rise Puts the "M" in Moxie Awards

We’re honored to share that Rise Interactive is a finalist in not just one, but THREE categories for this year’s Built In Chicago Moxie Awards! The awards recognize outstanding individuals and companies in Chicago tech. We're going for our fourth win as Digital Agency of the Year and are also up for Best Company Culture. Our founder and CEO, Jon Morris, is in the running for CEO of the Year. Please take a minute to support us with your votes on the Moxie Awards page.

In the spirit of the Moxies, we wanted to share more about Rise and why we put the “M” in Moxie Awards:


Masters of Data

We’re serious about data at Rise – and even more serious about driving big results. (We even have a hallway dedicated to the numbers we love to slice and dice each day for our clients!) Our data-driven approach to digital marketing has allowed us to see significant, award-winning growth over our 11 years. As a digital marketing agency specializing in media, analytics, and customer experience, it’s our priority to ensure that our clients are allocating their marketing dollars most efficiently and creating memorable and relevant customer experiences. Knowing how to best manage data and turn those insights into action plays a big role in doing so, and we apply our data-driven approach to every channel, from paid search to display – and even creative design.


Made In Chicago

We’re proud to be a Chicago born and bred company. Our story starts in our founder and CEO Jon Morris’ living room. After winning $10,000 from placing second in the University of Chicago Booth School of Business’s prestigious New Venture Challenge business plan competition, Jon set out to build a data-driven agency with a team of quantitatively-minded individuals.


Since then, he’s transformed our bootstrapped agency into a multi-million dollar business with a growing list of Fortune 500 and Fortune 1000 clients. We also experienced more than 80 percent growth of our employee headcount last year alone and now have over 200 talented employees!

We’re honored to be part of the city’s growing tech community and have made it our priority to connect and support other Chicago-based organizations and companies through events and partnerships.


Makers of Culture

We place strong emphasis on acquiring digital talent and are also focused on company culture. It’s a priority to recognize our employees’ hard work and extra effort, as it is critical to building strong and engaged members of the team. In doing so, we host events focused on rewarding employees for their work, from our annual Rise Day employee appreciation outing to Thanksgiving potlucks, quarterly happy hours, and more.

But, it isn't the happy hours or the snacks (although they're a big plus) that make our culture stand out; it's the fact that our team is actively generating Rise's culture, not just consuming it. Throughout the year, we encourage employees to be proactive in sharing ways for Rise to improve, and we listen and adjust.


Modern Marketers

At Rise, we recognize that the old school “Mad Men” approach doesn’t cut it in today’s world of marketing. Given our laser focus on data, we take a “Math Men” approach to client work.

What makes our method so different is our ability to shift budget among channels, based on what’s best for the client. Our Interactive Investment Management (IIM) approach is a philosophy, methodology, and suite of tools that enables Risers to allocate clients’ budgets as effectively as possible to deliver the most relevant experiences for their customers. Additionally, our account managers not only work as partners to our clients, they also understand the numbers and are able to provide educated digital insight to challenges.
