Molly Murphy Named as Woman to Watch in Digital Advertising by Viant

We’re excited to share that Molly Murphy (Associate Manager, Programmatic) has been named by Viant on their list of 2020 Women to Watch in Digital Advertising.

What leadership skills do you value most, and which were most challenging to develop?

“I find that the most admirable leaders embody passion, integrity, empathy, prioritization, delegation, and adaptability. For me, it’s been challenging to maintain a balance of prioritization and delegation. It’s important to set big goals for your team and company, but you have to be able to identify what projects will have the greatest impact if you do them now. In order to achieve what we’ve set out to do, I know it’s not possible for me to handle everything independently and I’ve found that we can accomplish more when I delegate tasks to my team members.”

How did you learn to embrace risk-taking?

“There will always be some amount of fear or hesitation related to risk-taking—it’s healthy, it’s how we identify that something has the potential to fail—but I try to redirect that into the fear of a lost opportunity. If you put yourself out there and understand the potential consequences of a decision, you’ll learn invaluable lessons whether it’s a success or not. At the end of the day, as long as you’re proud of your work and don’t leave anything on the table, you’ll realize that risk-taking is the only way to grow.”

What’s your favorite book (or what book are you currently reading)?

“I recently read The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah and even though the story takes place during WWII, its themes still apply today; specifically, perseverance in the face of adversity, standing up for what you believe in, and recognizing the impact life experiences and relationships have on your development. These three lessons are pillars for the way that I approach not only work but life in general.”

What are you looking forward to professionally in 2020?

“There are a million things I could mention, but I’m most excited about the continued growth of Rise Interactive’s programmatic team! I’m lucky enough to be surrounded by incredibly talented and smart people who continually challenge each other to innovate and drive the best results for our clients.”
